Sports presenter Clare Balding has lodged a complaint against the Sunday Times over an article written by restaurant critic, AA Gill. The article contained unnecessary and insulting references to her sexuality and unfortunately the newspaper have taken an unapologetic stance stating that 'some members of the gay community need to stop regarding themselves as having a special victim status and behave like any other sensible group that is accepted by society.'

Caster Semenya Competes Again After Enforced Gender Testing
South African female athlete Caster Semenya has returned to compete after being forced to undergo gender tests for the last eleven months. Doubts over her gender arose after she won the 800m in Berlin last year.
I wonder if every successful androgynous athlete is going to have to undergo similar humiliation in the future.

Lesbian Sporting Festival 13th-16th August
Lez Go Camping is a women's only sporting weekend event taking place at The Secret Nuclear Bunker in Kelvedon Hatch, Essex, in August. The weekend includes live music and entertainment, paintball, zorbing, quad biking, rope courses and climbing walls, football, rounders, rugby, and secret bunker tours.

I Should Have Listened to the Octopus - England Are Out Of The World Cup
Well it appears I need to get myself a psychic octopus as it was spot on - Germany beat England 4-1 in one of the worst results for our nation in World Cup history. I'm not going to dissect their performance as I am not a football expert but from a layman's point of view our defence didn't stand up to Germany's repeated attacks. Let's hope the England women's team fare better next year.
